MARK STEPHEN COSH - ANDRE PETTIPAS AND THE GIANTS
“If it wasn't for my uncles Chris and David I may have had to settle with being a doctor or lawyer or something rather than playing drums.” - Mark S Cosh
The journey started in the early 90’s in a backroom of Mark’s grandparents basement where his uncle Chris would practice with his band. Mark would sneak down and watch his uncle doing what Mark would once like to do himself.
Once Mark was a little older Chris would gift him an old pair of beaten up drumsticks. He started beating on the side of his family’s couch cushions and pillows, thankfully this didn't last too long because he was given his first drum kit at age 13 by his uncle David.
Less than a year after receiving those old red westbury drums Mark would already be in a band and playing shows at the local youth centres. This is where his love for drums, music and the industry would grow.
In the summer of 2008 at the age of 17 Mark would take off on his first Canadian tour which included dates on the Van Warped Tour and legendary venues such as The Opera House in Toronto, Ontario. In 2015 he was approached by long time friend, Andre Pettipas about this new project him and his brother Travis were working on, Andre Pettipas and The Giants. He asked Mark to come and join them for a rehearsal and the very next day the band was in the recording studio working on their debut album.
Since their very first practice in 2015 the band has been going non-stop playing countless shows, doing multiple tours in Canada as well as a stint in Sweden. They landed multiple #1s on The East Coast Countdown, Debuted in the top 40 on Canada’s Billboard Rock Chart with their single Sympathy Card, won competitions (Q104 Homegrown Challenge, Jim Beam National Talent Search) to further their career and all the while still having more and more passion every day.
From playing, restoring and building drums Marks passion grows every day with no end in sight on what helped create him to be the person he is today.
